In the Company of Bears won a Benjamin Franklin Award which was presented to the author at the American Booksellers Association Convention 1994.
The Children of the Gods received a San Diego Book Award presented to the author in 1998.
The Little Chapel that Stood was chosen by the Smithsonian Institution as the feature book in its interactive 9/11 Project.
The book was also the subject of a doctoral thesis by M.B.Kerle. The research showed that after reading The Little Chapel that Stood, school children talked about 9/11 not so much in terms of death and destruction but in terms of the courage and freedom of the American people. In an unusual honor for a children’s book, it was read to the jury in the trial of Zacharias Moussaoui.
Brainswitch out of Depression won a BEST BOOKS AWARD for 2007.
